Inspired

Has anyone else checked out the latest issue of Lonny Magazine??? I am feeling inspired by the unique object used and the bright colors.... what a way to welcome in summer. I especially love the kid friendly houses that are still beautiful and how about the bubble chair and trailing decorative plates?

My DIY Weekend

Last weekend my mom came over to Portland to help me with some DIY projects, unfortunately I set out a little to hard and had to many things on our agenda. The weekend ended up being a blast, we went to Cesar's kickball tournament, (they placed 6th, not to shabby) searched high and low for glass bead making kits for my mom, and painted a few items... It's not the best pic but the hutch received a nice glossy coat of navy blue paint....

This is the future cover, very metro chic, with a slight touch of masculine for Cesar

Baby Room Lighting

Here it is, I love it and have been coveting one like it, (again, at West Elm) but amazingly I found a tutorial on how to make one! EEEEK, I am so excited... this will look so cute in a boy or girl room, or even above our dining room table.... I love it!
Today, I am attempting to get all my fabulous projects ready for this weekend. My mom has volunteered to come over for the weekend and help me with a few DIY things.... I am super excited for my ideas to come together. Although, we are not going to attempt this bed this weekend, this will be done in the near future. My sister, Courtne found this easy tutorial online and it claims to cost less than $50. I have been oogling over the exact same bed at West Elm for a few months now... My idea is to sell my couch (anyone interested?) and use this daybed for a swanky addition to our living room as the main seating... and doubling over as a bed for future guest to come... Thoughts?

I also thought I would attach a pic of a gorgeous kitchen I have been drooling over... The blue is the perfect color, I love the vintage refrigerator and the blue vintage mason jars on the shelving...

Maybe a splash of pink...

Today we went to our first trimester screening and the baby checked out healthy and normal.... To my surprise it seemed proportioned and cute! It's as small as a sugar packet and only weighs 2 sugar packets. All of the tiny fingers and toes are in place and active... We couldn't be a happier!
PS The Dr. said we might want to start shopping for some pink....

Baby Cesar Nursery....

Ok, so here is some inspiration pics for baby Cesar if it is a boy... We want to keep to a monochromatic blue color scheme with a twist of lime green to mix it up a bit, and of course lots of white! Everyone knows how I love my white...

Finally, my first blog!

Ya, I have finally gotten around to it, my first blog.... I have been saying for over a year now that it was my mission to make a blog about interior design, fashion, recipes and DIY projects.... Well here I am. I am feeling quite inspired on this very Portland rainy day. I do have one simple thing that people must remember when reading my blog, especially you mom, I know there will be typos, grammar mistakes and other things that are not proper, but that's ok because I am not a English major I am an art major.
As far as the baby update, we are still very excited and I, as always am praying for a boy (oops) a girl, we have settled on the name Brenlee Rowan Martinez. Super excited because if it is a girl I have the room all picked out, a sorbet theme. Raspberry, sherbet and lavender, mmm mmm mmm... Now Cesar would like a boy, and we are well equipped with a color palette as well as a name, Cesar Joel Martinez III and a monochromatic blue scheme, splashes of green and a modern whale theme, very crisp and clean. If I am able to upload pictures I will show you my thoughts.
This week is my moms birthday and I am so excited for her to come over to Portland for we have a DIY weekend ahead of us amongst other little surprises planned for her. First on the agenda repaint some furniture in a navy blue with a high gloss, I am trying to make our house more masculine for Cesar (but still a elegant feeling). I am also probably the most excited for the quote board that I have been wanting to make forever... I will post pics and the tutorial as well. I preparation for the weekend I went out and purchased a singer sewing machine because I want to try and make the baby blanket amongst other household items, many including ruffle embellishments. So I started small and started with curtains. Simple, very airy and summery and a great addition to the house, not to mention fool proof because I started out with no real plan or pattern in my head. Note to self: Have a mental plan next time. Hope all had a great weekend and there was sun out there somewhere...
